I was searching for some interesting news on the horror front and found this....I don't know if it has been talked about yet or not but here it  is.....

A-list filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro (HELLBOY, PAN’S LABYRINTH) has joined forces with the entertainment-conglomerate to form a new production company called Disney Double Dare You.

With news breaking today at the D23 Expo by Dick Cook, Disney’s chairman, the new joint-venture is said to focus on bringing animated films laced with chills and thrills to people of all ages. Del Toro, who designed and originated the concept of DDY, will assume producing and directorial duties, though the latter less so

At the prospect of teaming with Disney, Del Toro adds:

“As a director, I love to take audiences into fantastic new worlds and provide them with some anxious moments in the process. It is part of the Disney canon to create thrilling, unforgettable moments and villains in all their classic films. It is my privilege for DDY to continue in this tradition. To partner up with The Walt Disney Studios, with the support of Dick Cook and John Lasseter, is to belong to a storytelling partnership that I admire deeply. It is a true honor. I look forward to coming up with fresh and original stories that will take Disney films in a whole new direction. The emphasis is on fun, and we have some great ideas already on the storyboards.”

I was wondering what all of you thought of this...I know I don't know if I can see Del Toro doing a Disney movie...I like a lot of Disney movies and I just don't see them joining together and forming something that is nice and neat.

I am picturing these movies to be in the vein of The Never ending story. Del Toro's love of fantasy mixed into a family friendly style of movie. Surely he knows anything considered extreme would not be allowed, so this is why I figure he's going this way with it.

I'm torn. On the one hand, we have Del Toro, who's movies I very much enjoy... and on the other hand, we have Disney, who's movies nowadays are nothing but happy go lucky cookie cutter copies of previous movies.

I guess only time will tell. I just hope it isn't another fucking Pixar CGI thing.

Pfft, I usually give guys of his reputation a chance. Case in point, I was sooo expecting to get a good Spiderman movie from Raimi the 3rd time around. Boy, was I wrong. Once they screw the pooch, THEN I start getting concerned. Del Toro to me has yet to sway my confidence. Until he delivers a spidey 3, I will trust him to deliver.

Agreed on the point of giving him a chance....I just hope it is a movie that changes the foundation of Disney and the way people look at it forever...Shadow is right...Disney has put a bunch of feel-good type movies out lately so maybe this will change that just a little bit.

Oh, I'm not saying I don't have faith in Del Toro, I'm just being wary in case Disney tries to screw up his style. All Disney movies do now is have the same kinda plot, but with different characters.

I'm pretty eager to see where this goes. Del Toro is known for some pretty dark and twisted movies and I haven't seen a movie of his I haven't liked or loved. If Pan's Labyrinth is any indication of what Del Toro is capable of, I personally can't wait to see what's in store. Perhaps some morbid re-tellings of Alice in Wonderland or Beauty and the Beast.

The possibilities are endless. Who knows, Maybe PJ will get in on the action now that he and Del Toro seem to have a good relationship. Dunno if that was pre-existing, but with the Hobbit back on, they're both working together from what I've heard. Not too big on PJ's work after the Frighteners, but with the imagery he used in the Lord of the Rings movies paired with the darker stuff Del Toro has planned for Disney, it could lead to the good old days with PJ. Damn......I want both of them to put something out now!

Production was halted because the JRR Tolken estate said they weren't paid the money they were owed from the profits of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but everything's been settled so the Hobbit movies are back on.
