Hmm, they will be showing Freddy's actual death at the hands of the parents. Thought he was burned alive in his home. Anyhoo, the voice is off but I guess they wanted Jackie Earle Haley to give his version of Freddy to the screen. The chaos over this movie online will be really interesting to see.

I.....I don't know what to say. It looks like it's mashing Nightmare 1&2 together, but it looks awful in the process. Freddy looks extremely lame, in fact he looks more like the guy that played Voldemort in the Harry Potter movies. Also, if I remember correctly, Springwood was in Ohio, so where'd the southern accent come from? Fuck......I really........really should have just passed this thread by.

Jackie's performance in Maniac Cop 3 from over 15 years ago should have been enough warning for those to not cast him as Freddy but no... they had to go cast him. His voice sucks. It didn't have to sound like Freddy for it to be good but judging from his voice in the trailer, he doesn't even sound scary at all in any sense.

I'm gonna say this in the movie's favor: Freddy looks more like an actual 3rd degree burns victim, and he does sound like his mouth and vocal cords got all fucked up.

Against the movie though, while many scenes from the trailer look alright, Freddy seems a lot less memorable and both his face and voice simply aren't as cool. And De, I believe that in the original, they mention they found Freddy in the old boiler room where he worked and that it was his hiding (and murdering) place, and that they burned him on the spot with molotov cocktails. So it appears to be accurate in the remake.

I'll say the same thing that I said on another site:

Even though I have some problems with the original (there's still one scene which I don't fully understand), but it's what made Craven the most famous. Yes, he did Last House on the Left and The Hills Have Eyes, but this is what got him famous, and remaking it is blasphemy.

I used to go to school with a burn victim and he looked nothing like Fredschach, in fact, he looked more like Freddy Krueger. Also, Freddy isn't really a 3rd degree burn victim since his flesh was burned clean off his bones.....so no point in trying to add realism into a movie about a guy that kills kids in their dreams.

The only thing I liked about that whole thing was that they are gonna focus some on what they did to Freddy...They are gonna show what the town did in more detail...Other than that this trailer sums up what I already knew...This movie didn't need to be remade, it was perfect just the way it is why would you touch it? This is what infuriates me, horror movies rarely are perfect but when you get one, it needs to be left at that.

Nice find De to stir up some convo....bravo my good man..

Thing is, they have gone into detail on what happened.....plenty of times. They just beat around the bush on showing it. Though, they did show it in the Final Nightmare and Freddy vs Jason (more like Friday the 13th: Part 11 with a cameo by Freddy.). Hell, I'm pretty sure they went into detail about it on Freddy's Nightmares.

Yeah, that was the only good episode (the origin episode), but can that series even be considered canical?

After that episode? No. It basically just turned into Tales from the Crypt with Freddy Krueger after that.

In fact, there's a poster and TV commercial arounf here with a woman who is severly burned and it looks pretty similar, but not only no injuries look the same, but I toally agree that there's no point in making Freddy's make up all that realistic.
